The New Year’s Day sunrise clears the Atlantic Ocean horizon at Jeannette’s Pier in Nags Head, NC. The 1,000-feet-long pier, which is a popular fishing spot, is the longest in the Outer Banks. It’s near Whalebone Junction, a major intersection where NC Highway 12, U.S. Highway 64, and U.S. Highway 158 meet.
