The morning light illuminates the richly colorful desert landscape of Arizona’s Grand Canyon as hikers make their way along the South Kaibab Trail. The route leads from the South Rim to Phantom Ranch; it’s 7.3 miles (11.7 km) long with an elevation change of 4,740 ft (1,445 m).
