The cavernous nave of the Cathedral Basilica of St. John the Baptist in Savannah, Georgia, is illuminated by the afternoon sun as tourists admire its opulence. The cathedral was first built in 1873, but a fire destroyed most of the structure in 1898. The reconstruction project took until 1912 to complete.
