Temples outline the perimeter of a plaza at the Maya ruins of Caracol. The natural monument reservation is in the Belizean jungle south of San Ignacio. Caracol was one of the Maya Lowlands’ most powerful cities during the Classic period, which spanned from 250 CE to 900 CE.
