I am shown wedging my way through a narrow shaft that connects to the main chamber of the Welsh Caves at DeSoto State Park in Alabama. The park is on Lookout Mountain, which is part of the Cumberland Plateau. The cave system has a mysterious origin; some believe it was built by a Welsh prince in the 12th century.
