The rock walls of New Mexico’s Chaco Canyon loom behind the ruins of Hungo Pavi, a great house built by the Ancestral Puebloan people sometime between 1000-1250 CE. Chaco Canyon was an important regional center in what is now the Four Corners area of the American Southwest; it continues to be a sacred site for today’s native peoples.
