The Wright Brothers National Memorial stands in Kill Devil Hills, a town that’s part of North Carolina’s Outer Banks. It commemorates the world’s first-ever powered flight. Orville and Wilbur Wright made the monumental achievement on December 17, 1903, in what was then known as Kitty Hawk.
