The distinctive call of an oropendola echoes off ancient temples at the Maya ruins of Caracol in Belize. The remote archaeological site is south of San Ignacio and only a few miles from the eastern border of Guatemala. Caracol was once a powerful city that even conquered nearby Tikal.
