Built on and over the Atlantic Ocean, the majestic Hassan II Mosque dominates the Casablanca skyline. The massive structure is an architectural and technological marvel of the highest order. Completed in 1993 under the guidance of King Hassan II himself, the mosque boasts the tallest minaret in the world. It also features a retractable roof, a promontory for prayer over the sea, and a laser beam pointing the faithful toward Mecca.
