The Eiffel Tower illuminates as the sun begins to set over Paris. The tower, which stands over 1,000 feet tall (305 m), was built in 1889 to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the French Revolution. It’s visible for miles across the metropolis and serves as the de facto symbol of France.
